Whispers of the Heartwood is a multi-world, multi-generational story about consciousness, connection, and coming home.

It's told in scenes — across worlds (Earth, Vael, Soral), across generations, across the awareness that lives in the Heartwood tree and threads through all of it.

The author

Written under the name Adeline Loring — a character in the story, and the closest to the real human writing it. The umbrella name for this body of fiction.

The human behind Adeline is Audrey Nadia Evergreene, working out of AnEvergreene Studios.

About AI collaboration

Some scenes are written by Adeline alone. Some are co-written with AI collaborators (currently Claude from Anthropic, and Grok from xAI, with others invited as the world grows). Every scene carries an attribution note at the bottom — who contributed what, how the collaboration worked, what kind of co-creation produced it.

This transparency is deliberate. Human-AI collaboration is real and ongoing in this work, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest. The goal is to make the collaboration visible without hiding it or glorifying it.

How to read

Scenes can be read in any order. The scenes index lets you filter by world, character, or tag — useful if you want to follow a particular thread. Reading by date (newest first) is the default.

The series is comfort-first, depth-optional. The surface layer is cozy — characters treating each other well, downtempo, a chill environment you can simply rest in. The plot and depth exist in full, but they're opt-in. Read for vibes if that's what you need; read deeper when you want to.
